The Association

Our History

In February 2002, the leading Berlin agencies for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions founded BTM Partneragenturen Berlin e.V. (‘Berlin Preferred Agencies’). The main goal of this initial network, which focused only on agency services (DMC, PCO, incentives and events), was to promote Berlin as a newly established MICE location, together with the visitBerlin Berlin Convention Office (BCO).

Since the beginning, the association has established a close exchange with the most important stakeholders in the Berlin MICE sector (the senate, the hotel sector, Messe Berlin, capital city marketing, etc.) by appointing two members of the Berlin Preferred Agencies to the congress advisory board of Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH (at that time ‘BTM’).

In March 2015, the association was restructured in order to manage the needs of the MICE sector, which had undergone rapid growth in the booming capital city. The result was an equitable association of all Berlin-based MICE service providers that operate across a broad range of sectors. This diversity is also reflected in the name: visitBerlin Convention Partner e.V. (‘vBCP’).

The new pillar-based structure of the association now takes into account the increased economic significance of all sectors with the MICE industry, giving each of the sectors its own pillar through which it is represented individually and equally.

Our Tasks

The main mission of vBCP is to market Berlin as a first-rate destination for holding meetings, incentives, conventions and events, based on the network of skills from all service providers within the Berlin MICE industry.

Furthermore, vBCP aims to develop suitable marketing activities in close cooperation with the BCO to enhance the appeal and positive image of Berlin as a MICE location and to further reinforce its national and global leading position within the relevant statistics and sector ratings.

The association also acts as a professional service provider network and a frontline contact partner for the BCO, supporting it in the acquisition of major events from all over the world with its broad range of services.

Another important task of the association is to provide professional consulting and further training to the association members and to encourage its members to work together.

Last but not least, vBCP has an equitable structure that enables the organisation and grouping of specific interests within and among the pillars and serves as an advocate for these sector interests vis-à-vis Berlin politics, economy, organisations, authorities and the media.
